Zhejiang Jinxiang Bearing Co.,Ltd. organised
Jinxiang people to Xianggeli manor (an ecological manor) for picking waxberries
(Yangmei) as well as receiving 5S training, which has strengthened the relationship
and the ability of team-work between colleagues, and also echoed the corporate
philosophy of pursuing innovations and developments.
Jinxiang Bearing is located in Cixi City,
Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. Cixi City is known for its local delicacy called
waxberries (Yangmei) of which the freshness period only lasts for about one
month. So when it is ready to eat fresh local waxberries (Yangmei), Jinxiang
people came to Xianggeli manor for a-day-long team building including staff’s 5S
system training, reports of midyear job performance and corporate major events,
as well as staff’s activities of picking waxberries (Yangmei) and free choice
time.
What’s 5s? The first S means “Sort”: only
have in the area what is required for the process. The second S means “Set in
Order”: place for everything, put everything in its place, use auxiliaries such
as color coding, floor marking, signage, flow directions. The third S means
“Shine”: prevent dirt and contamination
from reoccurring by eliminating the sources of dirt and by making cleaning
everyday work activity. The fourth S means “Standardize”: ensure that the
current standards achieved for Sort, Set in Order and Shine are monitored and
maintained, such as road signage standardization. The fifth S means “Sustain and
Train”: every employee contributes to sustaining the rate of improvement.
After the training, Jinxiang people ate a substantial lunch in which much
green and ecological food was provided. Then came the free choice time such as
picking waxberries on the hill. We either took fruit baskets, or were equipped
with characteristic waxberry-picking tools. With laugher, Jinxiang people
enjoyed with the team building day.
